Helmut
Kunst works in watercolor acrylics, and pen and ink.
He paints rural scenes, still lifes, fly fishing themes, farm equipment,
and barns in realistic and impressionist styles. He has exhibited
in various shows in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. His primary subject
matter of barns, the symbols of harvest and shelter, have been influenced
by childhood memories of his family's first home, a remodelled gambrel-roofed
barn, which they lived in for several years after they arrived from
Germany in 1949. Helmut's approach to art is reflected in his favorite
quote by Henry James - "It is art that makes life, makes interest,
makes importance... and I know of no substitute whatever for the
force and beauty of its process."
His
art and giclee prints are on exhibit and for sale at Apple Hill
Custom Framing and Gallery which he and his wife established in
2001 adjacent to their farmhouse in Clifford, PA.
